MALTA
CAR HIRE TERMS
& CONDITIONS
Currency
The
car hire charges shown on our booking system are listed in Euros.
Other currencies shown are only to be used as approximate
indications.
Standard
Insurance (Included)
Insurance
is included in our rates and it covers all damages resulting from an accident, vandalism, fire or
theft, except for the amount payable to open an
insurance claim (the excess). The excess payable by the
renter in case of accident varies from car to car.
Different car hire companies may offer different excess
amounts which can vary between €500 and €900. The
applicable excess charges are clearly shown on the
second page of our booking system
CDW:
Excess reduction option (optional)
This
is an optional insurance by which the car company
accepts to bear the risk of 75% of the excess amount
payable in case of damages/accident/theft in return for
an additional daily premium (shown on page 2 of the
booking system). If the renter takes this option he will
only be reponsible to pay 25% of the standard excess in
case of accident/damage/theft (terms & conditions
apply)
FDW:
Full Excess removal option (optional)
This
is an optional insurance by which the car company
accepts to bear the FULL risk of of the excess amount
payable in case of damages/accident/theft in return for
an additional daily premium (shown on page 2 of the
booking system). If the renter takes this option there
will be no excess to pay in case of
accident/damage/theft (terms & conditions apply)
Personal
Accident Insurance (optional)
Personal
Accident Insurance is available to insure the
driver and passengers of the rented car against injuries
and medical expenses resulting from accident. A limit
applies according to the vehicle's
insurance policy and an excess may be applicable in
event of a claim.
Delivery
and Collection
Charges
may apply for any rentals not starting / finishing at
the car hire premises or offices. Any delivery and
collection charges will be clearly shown on page 2 of
our booking system
Exceptions
to vehicles Insurance
The following are
not covered by the vehicle's insurance and charges
for any of the damages below can and may be charged directly to
the client:
Antenna, trays, car key, damage to car lock , personal
belongings, GPS Navigation systems, loss or damage to
keys , windshield wipers, glass, mirrors, wheels, tires,
spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, warning
triangles, damage to the upholstery of the car, extreme
dirtiness in the car, underside damage, damage due to
negligence, tire punctures and burst tires, fuel errors,
damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of
electricity because of forgotten turn on electrical
devices, the car rental company, in any case, is not
obligated in replacing a flat tyre or damages in radio.
Damage caused by drunk driving or negligent driving will
never be excluded from the client's direct
responsibilities.
Car radios/CD players/stereos are
not insured against damage or theft unless the facade of
the stereo is handed back to the company.
Any
unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be
interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge
to the client.
After
Hour Rentals
All
rentals commencing out of normal operating hours or on Public Holidays
may be subject to a one time
after hour delivery charge shown on the second page of the
booking system.
Additional
Drivers (optional)
Our
rates include insurance for one driver
aged 25-70 years. An extra daily charge is applicable to insure each additional
driver and these must present their driving license at
time of rental. The additional driver charge is
clearly shown on page 2 of the booking system.
Fuel Policy
& Charges (compulsory)
Clients
will be required to pay for the fuel suplied by the car
rental company. This cost will vary depending on
quantity of fuel supplied (normally half a
tank).
No refunds are given for fuel
left in the car upon termination. See Fuel
Policy
Baby
/ Child Seat Rentals
Any
child seats must be ordered using our booking system and a daily charge per seat is
applicable (shown on page 2 of the booking system). Clients are advised that
child/baby seats will not be fitted by the car company
since they cannot be held responsible in case of
accident.
Driving
age / Young drivers / Mature drivers
All
cars are insured for drivers aged between 25 and 70.
Drivers aged 21-24 or 71-75 are to pay a daily insurance
surcharge and the excess
reduction options may not be available.
Drivers
under 25 years must have held a full license for at least 3
years whilst drivers over 70 must present a recently renewed
license and a doctor's certificate stating fitness to drive.
Security
Deposit
Payment
may be effected using any major credit card (VISA,
Mastercard, AMEX or Diners) or in cash (Euros only). All renters
will be required to sign a credit card imprint on the
rental agreement at time of rental even if
they are paying in cash, as a security against the
applicable excess, items excluded from the insurance and any against any eventual parking
contraventions or over-speeding fines.
Non
credit card holders will be required to leave a cash
deposit equal to the excess amount carried by the car
which will only be refunded 3 weeks after
termination of rental.
Delivery
of alternative vehicle from one booked
Please
note that examples of makes & models used in this
website are to aid description and are not guaranteed.
We only guarantee the vehicle category and
specifications (eg. aircondition, manual, compact size
etc...). In case a car within your booked group is not
available you will receive a free upgrade.
Parking
tickets / Traffic violations / Overspeeding Fines
Any
parking tickets, traffic offences, fines or contraventions will
automatically be charged to the clients credit card during or
after time of rental either by our company or directly by the
local enforcement services. Car companies reserve the right to
charge an administration fee for paying contraventions
on the clients' behalf.
Disclaimer:
Car
Stereos / CD / radio cassette players
Although
vehicle descriptions may include car
radios or stereos as features, we reserve the
right in rare and unforeseen circumstances to deliver
cars without these extras. Sometimes cars are returned with a faulty
stereos or we might
supply a subcontracted car which might not
have a radio cassette or stereo installed. Our rates do
not include the cost of installing or repairing stereos
and thus we are not under
obligation to provide such extras.
Delivery
timings
Whilst
we always strive to deliver cars exactly at the requested
time, we sometimes encounter traffic and other set backs
beyond our control so kindly allow a 20 minute margin
either way from the time booked. This is only applicable
for hotel/address deliveries or if a flight lands ahead of time
booked. In case our representative is late by more
than 20 minutes kindly call the car company directly on
the number available on the confirmation voucher.
Tyres
Punctures & Roadside assistance
Our
24 hour roadside assistance is available free of charge
all over Malta & Gozo. Renters are advised that tyres
and wheels are not covered by the insurance so all
puncture repairs are at the renter's expense and must be repaired / replaced forthwith.
The
assistance service will not be provided free of charge
to replace second punctured wheel unless the first
puncture has been taken for repairs by the renter.
Fuel
Type
Should
renter run out of fuel, we can arrange delivery of a few
litres of fuel to any location on the island, however
the renter will have to pay for the fuel supplied plus a
delivery charge. Clients are advised to pay attention
and fill in cars with the correct type of fuel. Any
mechanical faults/repairs necessary as a result of wrong
fuel put in the car will be at the renters' expense.
Lost
& Stolen car keys
Should
a car key be lost during rental this will be at the
renter's expense and a charge will apply for delivery of
the spare key and the work/charges involved to replace the lost
key. Should the key be locked inside the car a delivery
charge will be imposed at the renters expense.
Early
returns of vehicles
No
refunds will be given for early returns or rental
agreements terminated early.
Late
returns of vehicles
If
a vehicle is returned by one hour later than the originally
agreed time, we reserve the right to charge a full day's
hire. Each rental agreement is allowed a 1 hour of grace after
which a full day's rental charge will be applied.
Clients failing to notify the car company of a late
return or rental extension, late return fees plus extra
collection costs may be charged directly to the client's
credit card without notice.
Flight
Information
All
clients collecting their cars at Malta airport on
arrival are required to provide a correct flight number.
We will not be held responsible if your car is
not prepared when you arrive in Malta should you
fail to provide your correct flight number and approx. time of arrival.
Accidents
/ Roadside Assistance
Customers
must contact the car rental company at the time of the
incident and will be required to file a police report
and an insurance claim form (if applicable). Failure to notify the
car company straight away may automatically void your insurance
cover making the renter liable for all repair costs of
the car and third parties, including loss of use of the
vehicle whilst under repairs.
Dependent
on the circumstances the car companies reserve the right not to replace
the vehicle for any remaining days of
hire.
The
insurance company may at its own discretion decline
coverage should there be suspicion of driving under the
influence of drugs or alcohol, proven reckless driving,
if the car was driven by any person other then the
insured and for any other reason listed on the back of
the rental agreement signed on collection of the
vehicle.
Condition
of vehicle / Excessive dirt
All
vehicles must be returned in the same condition as when
rented except for expected wear & tear and dirt. If
a car is returned with excessive dirt / stains, special
cleaning may be required at a cost to the renter.
Cancellation
Policy
The
car company agrees to refund all deposits in full for
any rentals cancelled at least 10 days in advance of
commencement of hire, except for an administration fee
of €25.
Any
rentals cancelled within the last 10 days of rental will
be entitled to a refund in the form of a credit note (to
be used for future rentals) less the €25 cancellation
fee.
Bookings
cancelled in the last 24 hours or at the last minute
will not be given any refunds.
